Division of Cancer Medicine

Research in the Division of Cancer Medicine (DCM) encompasses basic, translational and clinical cancer research. It houses Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), and Institute of Cancer Genetics and Informatics (ICGI), as well as research in five clinical departments. The institutes operate at the international forefront of basic and translational research. The division also excels in clinical trials and has a dedicated clinical trial unit. In 2024 the new clinic building at The Radium Hospital will open. Alongside a new building for Proton Therapy in operation fall 2025, this will enhance the benefit for cancer patients and patient-centred research in OUS.

Since 2017 the Division has been main partner in Oslo University Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Centre, headed by Prof. Sigbjørn Smeland, who is also Head of Division of Cancer Medicine.
The research in both OUS-CCC and Cancer Medicine is led by Prof. Åslaug Helland.
