The goal of this research group is to understand the mechanisms by which a plant based dietary pattern mediates protective effects.

About the group

A plant based dietary pattern with high intakes of fruits, berries, vegetables, whole grains and fish, and low intake of red meat and energy-dense foods has been associated with reduced risk of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other chronic diseases.

Since oxidative stress and inflammation are major common mechanisms involved in chronic diseases, we focus on foods and drinks that may dampen excessive oxidative stress and inflammation.
