Sick Leave
If you are feeling sick and potentially contagious, MIK encourages you to stay at home out of respect for your coworkers.

Remember to register sick leave etc without delay by sending an email to Helene Wold Ranum.
- Self certified sick leave → All employees at UiO can take self certified sick leave for themselves or to stay home with sick children.
- Doctor's sick leave → You are required to visit a doctor and obtain a medical certificate if your sick leave lasts beyond the days for which you are entitled to self-certify.
- Sick child or child minder → You have right to family care leave.
Respiratory diseases and use of face masks
If you have had Covid-19 or other respiratory diseases, you must use a face mask at work for 7 days after the first symptoms. Read more about Covid-19 and work restrictions in eHåndbok for OUS.
Mental health
In academia and in life, mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, are prevalent. If you find yourself at immediate danger, including, but not limited to, self-harm, please seek emergency services. Some help could be provided through the UiO Occupational Health Service Unit.
Pregnancies
During pregnancies, some operations in the laboratory might be harmful for an unborn child. The first trimester of a pregnancy is critical, and some chemicals and operations may be associated with increased risk in this period. If you are pregnant or are trying to conceive, please contact our HSE coordinator or Occupational Health services for advice.

Occupational hygiene
Occupational hygiene is the measurement, risk assessment and control of risk in the biological, chemical or the physical work environment.
Confidentiality
All health services at UiO and in Norway, have to confirm to strict rules of confidentiality. This also goes for MIKs HSE coordinator and MIKs safety deputy.
