Vik, Alseth and coworkers publish a novel enzymatic activity in Nature Communication

Erik S. Vik and Ingrun Alseth from Department of Microbiology are first and last authors of an article published in Nature Communications 05.08.2013 entitled "Endonuclease V cleaves at inosines in RNA".
In this paper novel enzymatic properties for humane Endonuclease V have been revealed. Whereas bacterial homologs of Endonuclease V are DNA repair proteins, the authors find that the humane enzyme rather is active on modified RNA.
