Master student Marthe Eken (main supervisor, Rolf Skotheim; co-supervisor, Ragnhild A Lothe), defended her master thesis "Identification of cancer-specific transcripts: With emphasis on the hunt for fusion genes in colorectal cancer" on December 17th at the University of Oslo. The work concerned identification of novel transcript variants in colorectal cancer and the main findings were 22 novel exons and 34 putative promoters. Marthe started on her PhD degree after the holiday and this work will follow up some interesting results from the master thesis.
