Helene leads her own project group centered around two main goals 1) to understand how autophagy is turned off in a multicellular organism and 2) to identify novel therapies for MLL-rearranged leukemia with the help of a fruit fly model of leukemia.
Nacho joined the Enserink group in 2013. In 2017 he obtained a 4 year researcher fellowship to combine classical drug screenings with state-of-the-art computational approaches to find new drugs to treat drug-resistant fungal infections in cancer patients.
Pilar joined the Enserink group as a post-doctoral researcher in January 2014 with a 2-years grant funded by the Fundación Alfonso Martín Escudero. She works in a personalized-medicine platform for leukemia patients, testing the sensitivity of primary cells from patients or healthy donors to a panel of anticancer drugs.
Nathalia's work is to develop and establish a genome-wide study in autophagy using budding yeast to further understand autophagy dynamic response in higher eukaryotes.
Miriam joined the group in July 2020 and is working on elucidating the molecular mechanisms regulating autophagy termination and their implications for human cancer using Drosophila as a model system.
Benjamin project is focused on cancer immunotherapy, molecular engineering, cell-based immunotherapy, and cell fate reprogramming.
Amani joined the group in September 2020 and is working on identifying novel regulators of autophagy termination and understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms both in vitro and in vivo using Drosophila as a model.
Mary-Ann joined the group in June 2021 and is working on identifying synergizing drug combinations for the treatment of breast cancer using a high-throughput drug screening platform and validating them on patient derived xenografts.
Aram is combining mathematical modeling with various unsupervised and semi-supervised machine learning strategies to perform guided exploration in high-dimensional genetic perturbation screens; with primary focuses on characterizing fitness landscapes in cancer and system-control of autophagy dynamics in yeast.
Jeanne is working on the development of new antimycotics to treat drug-resistant fungal infections. She started her PhD. project with Nacho Garcia in 2019.
Andrea is looking into improving systems for personalized medicine in lung cancer through the use of 3D cell cultures and machine learning strategies.
Linda´s work supports the experimental validation of the genome-wide screening for functional analysis of autophagy response in yeast.
Julie is working on MLL-rearranged leukemia and how proliferating hemocytes can be reprogrammed towards cell death. She started her M.Sc. project with Helene Knævelsrud in 2019.
Niveditha joined the group in May 2021 as Research assistant. She supports the project for the development of new immunotherapies for cancer patients.
Eirik is working on a project to identify the various clock factors that affect autophagy by manipulating nutrient access in specifically selected yeast mutants. The results will be analyzed using a machine learning approach. He joined the Enserink group as a master student in January 2021.
Alberto Master projects aim to study autophagy as a dynamic process and to understand how it is affected through system dynamic modelling of underpinning metabolic circuits in the biological regulatory network. The project also has a bioinformatics component including analysis of data and machine learning to map out and try classify such interactions.
