ESTRO Honorary Membership to Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale
Professor Anne Lise Børresen Dale was awarded honorary membership of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) during the ECCO15 - ESMO34 congress held in Berlin 20-24 September. This is the largest cancer conference is Europe and more than 15 000 clinicians, scientists, company delegates and health care decision-makers are assembled in Berlin to discuss trends in cancer research and health challenge that cancer represents.
Børresen-Dale was awarded the membership for her important research on late adverse effects - secondary malignancies included - and the underlying gene expression amongst breast cancer patients receiving radiation therapy. Her work has contributed significantly to the molecular understanding of late toxicity following radiation therapy.
Børresen-Dale received the honour during the ESTRO society session, where she held an excellent lecture entitled "Identification of gene variants and gene expression profiles predicting long term side effects of radiation treatment in breast cancer patients".
