OUS-CCC involved in major EU grant to improve cancer infrastructures in Europe
OUS-CCC (Comprehensive Cancer Centre) is involved in the major EU grant CCI4EU - aimed at improving cancer infrastructures in Europe through developing or improving Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures. The project involves 55 partners and has a duration of 36 months. Work Package 4 (WP4) is "Development of personalised capacity building (CB) tailored interventions" where OUS-CCC is co-lead together with Vall d´Hebron Hospital.
OUS-CCC initiated the WP4 participation with a visit to partner and co-lead Claudia Valverde at Vall d’Hebron Hospital, Barcelona. The entourage consisted of head of OUS-CCC Sigbjørn Smeland, Ingrid Jenny Guldvik, Anders Øverbye and Per Magnus Mæhle.

CCI4EU – Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures for Europe – is a Horizon Europe Mission Cancer funded project aimed at improving the cancer care in Europe with these main objectives:
- Support EU Member States and associated countries in developing or improving existing or future Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures (CCIs).
- Promote research innovation and digital capacity building in cancer care.
- Ensure that 90% of cancer patients are treated in CCIs by 2030 (according to one of the four main action areas of the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan).
The project is coordinated by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). The project network consists of 55 partners, including major European cancer organisations, cancer centres and other representatives from all EU Member States and several associated countries. CI4EU has a duration of 36 months.
Work Package 4 (WP4) is “Development of personalised capacity building (CB) tailored interventions” where OUS-CCC is co-lead together with Vall d´Hebron Hospital. WPs 2 & 3 will unveil and define regions/areas in need of improvement. WP4 will design interventions to improve the specific capacity in these regions/areas. WP5 will cover training, and WP6 the implementation of interventions themselves through a series of Deep Dives by experts.
