On Friday April 26th nine research awards were distributed to scientists from Oslo University Hospital. The prizes were given out by Bjørn Erikstein, managing director at the hosptital during a ceremony taking place at Rikshospitalet, Gaustad.

Awards went to six excellent research articles. For the first time, prizes also were given to three individual researchers. The "Excellent Researcher Award" was won by Harald Stenmark. The two "Early Career Awards" went to Guro Elisabeth Lind and Tom Hemming Karlsen.

Prize category overview:

  • one "Excellent Researcher Award". 300.000,- NOK
  • two "Early Career Awards", each amounting to 150.000,- NOK
  • six "Excelllent original articles" published second half-year of 2012. 50.000,- to each research group behind the articles.

Six of the best papers authored by scientists working on the hospital (first or last author must be affiliated to OUS) has been selected every half-year since 2011. The nomination takes place through the research panel of each division. The final selection process is performed by an external committee. A sum amounting to NOK 50.000 normally goes to the research group of which the first author represents.

The awards are meant to inspire the research communities at OUS and bring publicity to the excellent work performed by scientist at the hospital. The new prizes to the individual researchers come as a consequence of these ambitions.

In order to stimulate excellent research and draw attention to the hospital's extensive research activity, Oslo University Hospital reward outstanding publications regularly.

Excellent Researcher Award: Harald Stenmark
