Lipid Clinic
The Lipid Clinic is a leading department for treatment of, and conduction of clinical trials of familial hypercholesterolemia, as well as other lipid disorders. The research group includes a group of internists, clinical dieticians, study nurses, pharmacist and bioengineer.

- Lipids incl. genetic lipid diseases
- Cardiovascular disease
- Nutritional and metabolic diseases
- Evaluation of long term treatment outcome
Highlights:
- Experience since 1986 with investigator initiated studies as well as studies conducted in collaboration with the industry (phase I-IV).
- Conduct studies on different populations (pediatric, adult and geriatric).
- In collaboration with Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Familial hypercholesterolemia, the Lipid Clinic has established a Lipid registry both to ensure the quality of the treatment of patients in the outpatient clinic, and be able to quickly identify relevant participants for studies. Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Familial hypercholesterolemia and the Lipid Clinic has also established a biobank for blood samples.
- The Lipid Clinic have a close collaboration with Cardiac and Cardiovascular Genetic Unit, Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo, Department of Nutrition.
We:
- Perform IRB/ERB/Ethics Committee submissions. Once we have received the regulatory approval we are able to start a study within less than 30 days.
- Have a written SOP/Policy/Procedure for Informed Consent (incl. for Pediatric Populations)
- Have a training program (incl. Good Clinical Practice) for the research staff
- During the past 30 years, the Lipid Clinic have conducted several hundred clinical trials. Below an overview of studies carried out in the last 5 years
