Einar Hopp, MD, PhD is the leader for the research group Non-invasive Cardiac Imaging.

Non-invasive cardiac imaging includes nuclear medicine techniques like SPECT and PET/CT, Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Measurement of metabolism, oxygen demand and perfusion is ever evolving in nuclear medicine, and novel pharmacological agents cause new possibilities and method refinement. Cardiac CT experiencex hardware advances increasing uptake speed and decreasing radiation.

Analytic advances include dynamic imaging with functional assessment, and more complex algorithms providing flow estimation. Trends in cardiac MRI include regional function with 4D motion and deformation analyses, and detailed tissue characterization through direct T1, T2 and T2* measurement.

Members of the group participate in different clinical projects, providing primary and secondary end points on ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and severe heart failure.
Imaging studies focus on method development, validation and refinement.
