Helene Knævelsrud

  • Group leader; PhD
  • +47 414 27 591

Helene leads a project group centered around two main goals 1) to understand how autophagy is turned off - and how this impacts physiology and cancer 2) to identify novel therapies for MLL-rearranged leukemia with the help of a fruit fly model of leukemia.

Julie Aarmo Johannessen

  • PhD student

Julie is working on MLL-rearranged leukemia and how proliferating hemocytes can be reprogrammed towards cell death. She started her M.Sc. project with Helene Knævelsrud in 2019.

Miriam Formica

  • Postdoc

Miriam joined the group in July 2020 and is working on elucidating the molecular mechanisms regulating autophagy termination and their implications for human cancer using Drosophila as a model system.

Amani Al Outa

  • Postdoc

Amani joined the group in September 2020 and is working on identifying novel regulators of autophagy termination and understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms both in vitro and in vivo using Drosophila as a model.
