Wireless Sensor Network Research Group
The group has expertise in communications technology and biomedical signal processing research and development. The group aims to contribute to the advancement of medical technologies, with a commitment to translating basic research into innovative concepts and further to practical solutions and preclinical testing and validation – “from bench to bedside”.
The focus is in:
- Creation of Communication and Computational Systems (Molecular Communications Technologies team):
- Engage in the development of intra- and on-body communication and computational systems centered around biological entities at the multi-scale, including molecules, cells, and organs. This extends to mathematical modeling, computer-assisted simulations, and prototype development. The prototypes are designed to establish seamless connectivity with the Internet, facilitating the storage and processing of substantial volumes of data.
- Innovation in Data Processing Algorithms (Artificial Intelligence team):
- Innovate and create novel algorithms tailored for the processing and comprehension of extensive biomedical datasets. This encompasses information from various sources such as genetic materials, (bio)sensors, medical records and images, and test results. The goal is to enhance precision in diagnostics, treatment methodologies, and subsequent patient follow-up.
- Development of Advanced Medical (Bio)Sensors and Communications (Radio-Frequency Communications team):
- Pursue the advancement of medical (bio)sensors utilizing cutting-edge bionanotechnologies. This means pioneering in-body wireless communication strategies for sensor data, as well as power transfer mechanisms to energize sensors and remotely stimulate cells. The focus encompasses innovative approaches such as radiative, conductive, and inductive methods, leveraging a diverse array of nanoparticles, metamaterials, and electric and magnetic materials.
The group stimulates employees to hold secondary, academic positions outside the hospital. The group is engaged in staffing and competence increase to be able to assist various projects initiated by other environments and contribute to a seamless collaboration between technologists and clinicians.
