The homeobox transcription factor PBX - a putative prognostic marker and drug target of prostate cancer

The PBX family of transcription factors is involved in regulation of developmental gene expression, differentiation of urogenital organs and steroidogenesis. It has been postulated that PBX expression pattern could be used as a tool for both stratification and treatment of patients with cancer. Our focus is to identify which PBX members are expressed in benign and malignant prostate cancer. It is also of interest to elucidate PBX’s functional role in prostate cancer progression and PBX targets genes.
