
Robert Bigseth

Robert S. Bigseth completed his medical degree at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 2021. Since graduation, he has worked as a medical doctor at several hospitals in Denmark and Norway, gaining clinical experience in internal medicine and cardiology. Prior to joining Oslo University Hospital, he worked at the Department of Cardiology, Akershus University Hospital.
In October 2025, he started as a PhD Fellow at Oslo University Hospital, joining the ProCardio research group. His main supervisor is Kristina Haugaa, with Eivind Aabel as co-supervisor.
Dr. Bigseth has a particular interest in cardiogenetics and inherited ion channel diseases, as well as athletes and sudden cardiac death (SCD). His research primarily focuses on conditions associated with ventricular arrhythmias and SCD, including catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), long QT syndrome (LQTS), exercise-induced arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (EiAC), and arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse (AMVP).
