Schafteløkken, Oslo, 10 November 2022 8th Epilepsy Research Group (ERGO) seminar
The annual research group meeting for ERGO was held at Schafteløkken in Oslo on November 10th. Thirty-one participants including invited speakers attended the meetiing. Professor Christoph Patrick Beier from University of Southern Denmark and Odense University Hospital acted as external evaluator.
The main topics discussed at the meeting were:
- Status epilepticus. Basic and translational studies were presented and further collaboration between ERGO and Glialab/Letten center at the University of Oslo was discussed. Professor Christoph P Beier gave an invited lecture presenting a new score for long term prognosis after status that has recently been published in JAMA Neurology and in which ERGO is one of the collaborators. Other clinical studies including possible future projects and the invitation to particiate in the upcoming large EAN (European Academy of Neurology) registry for status, was also discussed.
- Posttraumatic epilepsy. This is a collaboration between Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery in OUH, and the National Trauma Registry. Prof. Leiv Arne Rosseland from Division of Emergencies and Critical Care, OUH gave a short introduction to the National Trauma Registry and our joint project was presented. In addition, the ongoing prospective study, proPTE, was discussed.
- Epilepsy, psychiatry and cognition. Presentations from Naz Karadag from NORMENT and Christopher Hatlestad-Hall from the AI Mind project, both with collaborative works with ERGO. Both studies opens for further collaboration with ERGO.
- Prehospital care of acute seizure - the PreCtrl study which will start up in 2023 was presented by Maren Ranhoff-Hov, Department of Neurology and Norwegian Air Ambulance.
