Expertise and ambitions
My primary academic passion is to build bridges, and strengthen existing ones, between measurement theory and substantive/applied research. Using a suitable research design, measurement framework and (statistical) model are of paramount importance, in order to draw the correct conclusions from data. The advantages of these tools are evident and can and should be turned to good account; their true value lies in their ability to allow two important aspects of sound research to go hand in hand: scientific quality and societal relevance. In my endeavor to establish and strengthen links between measurement theory and applied research, I have deepened my knowledge of – and experience with – latent variable modeling, (multidimensional) computerized adaptive testing, test theory (both classical and modern), qualitative research, quality of life research, psychopathology, personality disorders, epidemiology, health assessment, and educational measurement.
