Announcement: nominate a scientist for the 2023 OUH research awards Excellent Researcher Award and Early Career Award
Oslo University Hospital hereby announce research awards in the following two catagories for 2023:
- Excellent Researcher Award (one prize, 300.000 NOK)
- Early Career Award (two prizes of 150.000 NOK each)
Closing date for nominations: March 17th 2023.
Nomination criteria:
Both awards
- Any field of research
- The candidate must be an active researcher, not retired, but otherwise any age
- The candidate must be employed by Oslo University Hospital
- Significant journal articles must be affiliated to Oslo University Hospital
- The researcher must have continued research plans at Oslo University Hospital
- The prize should be used for further research at Oslo University Hospital
- Both peer-nominated and self-nominated candidates will be considered
Excellent Researcher Award
- Recent research track record and profile which identify the candidate as a leader in his/ her field(s) of research. The last 10 years track record should be emphasized.
- Contribution to strengthening of research environment at Oslo University Hospital
Early Career Award
- 2-7 years of experience after completion of PhD and scientific track record showing great promise (any age). Justified career breaks due to parental leaves and sick leaves will extend the seven-year restriction.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Both awards: Scientific excellence, i.e.: peer evaluation of scientific quality and impact
- Excellent researcher award: contribution to strengthening research environment at Oslo University Hospital
Evaluation Committee: Oslo University Hospital’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
If the number of nominees is substantial, the Oslo University Hospital’s Research Committee will select candidates for the SAB’s final evaluation.
[1] A maximum of seven years must have passed between the PhD defence and the nomination deadline, i.e. defence date between 17 March 2016 and 17 March 2021. An earlier defence date than 17 March 2016 may be accepted for certain types of leave, such as parental leave and full- or part-time sick leave, which corresponds to at least eight weeks of full-time absence after the PhD defence date. Reference must be made to the dates of such absence. Additional documentation may be requested if the absence occurred while working outside OUS. Absence from research to work with clinical specialization is not grounds for deduction. Time spent on clinical work/specialisation does not count negatively - the committee is aware of the difference between full-time and part-time researchers
