The COVID-19 pandemic: Reactions from the mental health workers

Few studies of the COVID-19 pandemic have had a focus on the effect on the mental health workers. The aim of the project is study the mental impact of the COVID -19 pandemic for the mental health workers in the acute psychiatric unit at the Oslo University Hospital. This project was established early in the phase of pandemic to study the staff`s reaction to the possibility of being infected and not being able to give the best treatment due to restriction of outdoor movements for the patients and lack of support of the patient`s family. A short 29 item Questionnaire was developed including some items from a Chinese study (Zhou 2020). The results will be used to improve the working situation for the staff, develop new strategies to combat isolation and lack of cooperation from families and published. The study plans to be repeated.
