Research group: Pediatric Forensic Medicine
In this group we aim to understand and prevent sudden unexpected infant death, with a main focus on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The projects address genetic vulnerability both in nuclear DNA and mtDNA, the importance of the immune system and the serotonergic network, brain water homeostasis and aquaporins, and the involvement of external risk factors. The group is engaged in epidemiology and statistics regarding infant death, and also in developing better methods for estimation of time of death. This group continues the work of the research group previously lead by Torleiv Ole Rognum (until July 1st 2019).
