It is common to divide hypoxia into two categories: Acute and chronic. Recent research in our group has indicated that these different hypoxic categories influence tumor progression in mice differently, hence also the treatment resistance. It will therefore be of great interest to control which kind of hypoxia a tumor bearing mice is experiencing, and study how this influence e.g. the tumor physiology and the metastatic pattern.
We have for this task developed a hypoxia chamber, in which it is possible to control this. In this chamber several mice can be kept for several days, and it is possible to control both the extent of hypoxia, and the length and frequency of the hypoxic periods.
