Our group has a main focus on clinical research in paediatric haemotology and oncology.

About the group

INTERPRET's (INTEgrated and Regulatory Paediatric REsearch Team)  main focus is on clinical research in paediatric haemotology and oncology, and currently, special interest in late effects, supportive care, communication strategies and health care during and after treatment of childhood cancer and blood diseases.

The research group is affiliated to the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Division for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Oslo University Hospital, and Institute for Clinical Medicine at the University of Oslo.
It is a multidisciplinary research group consisting of physicians, nurses, psychologists and nutritionist.

The group has extensive collaborations with other research groups nationally and internationally, and a successful achievement has been the development of a national biobank for paediatric cancer.

Ongoing projects

  • More than 20 international clinical treatment and research studies with several principal investigators from INTERPRET, within the frame of international organizations (NOPHO, SIOP, EBMT etc);
  • Physical Activity in Childhood Cancer Survivors (PACCS). An international multicenter study on physical activity and fitness among adolescent childhood cancer survivors, with research grants from The Research Council of Norway, The Norwegian Cancer Society and The Norwegian Childhood Cancer Society and in close collaboration with The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences;
  • Several studies on late effects and health care in childhood cancer survivors (brain tumors, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, retinoblastoma);
  • Palliative care in children;
  • Paediatric haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (late effects, nutrition);
  • Communication in follow-up consultations after childhood cancer.
